Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian organization, KSrelief, has joined forces with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to initiate a $10 million project focused on enhancing food security in Yemen. This initiative is set to bolster vulnerable communities and foster long-term resilience in the region.
Both KSrelief and the UK have committed $5 million each to the project, which will be executed by the UN World Food Programme. The efforts will target the Yemeni governorates of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Aden, Al-Dhale, and Lahij, aiming to provide much-needed support to these areas.
The project is designed to deliver conditional cash transfers to improve food accessibility, restore productive infrastructure, and assist families in transitioning from reliance on emergency food aid to achieving greater self-sufficiency. This comprehensive approach includes vocational training, support for local authorities, and initiatives to enhance governance and sustainable management of community resources.
This agreement is part of a broader commitment by Saudi Arabia to humanitarian efforts, with KSrelief having implemented over 4,400 aid projects valued at more than $8.5 billion across 113 countries since 2015. The partnership with the UK reflects a continued dedication to addressing food insecurity and supporting economic resilience in Yemen.
