During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the fringes of the 2026 G7 Summit, the two leaders set July 15 as the activation date for the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). This agreement is poised to enhance the already substantial trade relationship between the UK and India, currently valued at approximately £48 billion annually.
Starmer, who has been a proponent of strengthening ties with India, made the trade deal a cornerstone of his administration’s objectives.
